Through the breadth of our work we have developed a full knowledge and experience of working with, and designing for complicated historic buildings and bringing them into full and practical use; navigating the intricacies of matching present commercial or residential needs with the statutory requirements to preserve and conserve these buildings.

In this project our brief is to develop a design and gain listed building consent for the development of this large, complex and very badly dilapidated listed building into many flats and shops. Working carefully with the 14th and 18th century parts of the building we produced a successful layout of flats and shops that is not only economically viable as a development, but enhances this sadly redundant building and makes a significant improvement to the heart of a town centre conservation area.

We liaised between the local authority conservation officers, our clients and Historic England to gain grant funding for the complete restoration of the buildings four facades and the reinstatement of period windows and shopfronts.
