We work with commercial and retail owners and are often asked to take on projects within period or listed buildings where the buildings are complicated and sensitive to alteration, but the owner wishes to meet their present need for a working layout and up-to-date facilities.

In this project the building is home to an excellent independent, family-run shop in the centre of Lincoln, but the three upper floors of this fine listed building had been all but closed off for decades. Much of the period detail was obscured by mid-20th century modifications and elements of the 18th century fabric and woodwork had fallen into dilapidation. We designed, gained listed building consent for and implemented a large scheme of alteration, restoration and refurbishment to bring the whole property into use, doubling the shop retail area and creating new offices and a restaurant.
